Sergey Slovetskiy

Systems engineer and architect · Doctoral researcher in systems engineering

Senior Member, IEEE INCOSE ESEP IAPP AIGP

Sergey Slovetskiy (Senior Member, IEEE) received the M.Sc. degree in engineering physics from the Faculty of Experimental and Theoretical Physics, Moscow Engineering Physics Institute (MEPhI), and the M.S. degree in applied and computational mathematics from the University of Washington. He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in systems engineering with Colorado State University. His research in stochastic and mathematical modeling of complex systems began at MEPhI and the Kotelnikov Institute of Radioengineering and Electronics (IRE RAS) under Prof. Eduard E. Godik, where in 1994 he proposed applying ionizing-radiation Monte Carlo methods to optical transport in randomly inhomogeneous media and wrote the simulation and visualization suite in Pascal - work later cited alongside Wang and Jacques' MCML (Optics and Spectroscopy) and Tuchin's Tissue Optics (Quantum Electronics). Raised in a family of Russian Academy of Sciences chemical physicists - including his father, Dr. Dmitry I. Slovetskii (Topchiev Institute of Petrochemical Synthesis), and his uncle, Dr. V. I. Slovetskiy (Zelinsky Institute of Organic Chemistry) - he later co-authored with his father a mathematical model of plasma-chemical methane pyrolysis in High Energy Chemistry (2002, as S. D. Slovetskii) that remains widely cited in clean-hydrogen and catalysis research. Networks and distributed systems are the common thread of his practice and research. In practice, he works on the assurance of AI-enabled distributed systems, including the integrity of production AI services and compliance across the system lifecycle. His research examines network topology and the structure of complex systems. He holds 17 granted patents in the United States, Europe, and China, spanning privacy-preserving data linkage, eventually consistent distributed state, distributed stream processing, and secure transport and provisioning for constrained and non-IP devices, and has contributed to standards in the IETF, OMA, and DLNA, where he chaired task forces and vice-chaired the Technical Committee. He is an INCOSE Expert Systems Engineering Professional (ESEP) and an IAPP Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional (AIGP). He was a recipient of the DLNA Board of Directors' award for outstanding dedication, contribution, and exemplary leadership in 2012.
